About Neek Graham

My name is Neequa Graham and my Pin name is Neek Tha Poet. I am an Urban Erotica Poetry writer who has a self-published book called “Dirty Mind of a Poet”. I am from Los Angeles, CA but I have been residing in Las Vegas, NV for almost 7 years.

I discovered I had a talent in writing when I had a poetry assignment due in my 8th grade English class. It opened a world I never knew existed inside of me. I didn’t start off writing Urban Erotica until I began to be sexually active and have experiences that will make you fan yourself, lol.

Majority of my pieces are about experiences and the other parts are my imagination running wild. I love to write in a way that makes my readers feel they are there or put in the situations that come from my mind. I really go into detail and leave you wanting a piece of your mate. I tend to make sure everything I have my readers visualize make sense. I try to make sure all my poetry rhymes and flows.

Poetry for me is Art and Self-Expression. Poetry is Life. And as always: “Stay Wet My Friends!”

Interview With Winn Publications

Winn Publications: How did your journey as an author begin

My journey started when I was in 8th grade. I had a poetry assignment for my English class. I didn’t know I could write until I did it and received an A. Back then, I wasn’t writing Urban Erotica, but started with relationship poems and grew from there. I also used to do greeting cards with my poetry and would sell them. They were cards for just about anything from I like you, to breakups, to let’s stay together.

Winn Publications: Was it something you always wanted to pursue?

I thought about it but was always scared that they wouldn’t make sense. Then I had to face my fears to get a grade and that was all I needed for my push to do what I love.

Winn Publications:Who or what motivated you to write?

1st was my English teacher, Ms. Mitchell. She believed in me and pushed me to tap into my creative side once I started to write. My other muses are the people I love, people I have been through it with, past experiences, and my imagination.

Winn Publications: Have you published your writings into a book? If so, where can we find them?

Yes. The book is called “Dirty Mind of a Poet” and can be found on Amazon.

Winn Publications: How was the publishing process?

The publishing process wasn’t too bad. The hardest part was making sure the cover was the right size. Amazon has templates that helped.

Winn Publications: Are you self-published?

Yes, I am self-published with Amazon Self-Publishing program.

Winn Publications: Since becoming a published author, what challenges have you faced if any?

The challenges I face is marketing and getting my book out there. I truly have some discouraging moments, but I try my best to push forward. Because of the content, I cannot market on Amazon which is weird because of all of the inappropriate things that are sold on there.

Winn Publications: Have you written anything outside of poetry?

I am in the midst of writing a book of short Urban stories that are not poetry.

Winn Publications: Do you have a tip that you can offer your peers (poets and writers worldwide)?

My tip: Stay motivated and don’t give up. Publishing a book is a great accomplishment and also hard work.

Winn Publications: Are you currently working on any new projects? If so when  can we expect them to be released?

The book of short Urban stories will be coming soon. There is no release date yet.

Winn Publications: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I see my books being successful in 5 years. I see book tours and my books in many of the book stores.

Winn Publications: What does being a poet mean to you?

Being a Poet means digging deep within your soul and creating a masterpiece. Being a poet taps into your imagination and prompts you to coop with whatever turmoil or happiness you may be going through. Being a poet is an art and my way of communication. Being a Poet is Life!

Winn Publications: What’s your favorite quote and who’s it by?

One of the things I learned the hard way was that it doesn’t pay to get discouraged. Keeping busy and making optimism a way of life can restore your faith in yourself.”- Lucille Ball

If you could co-author with anyone – dead or alive- who would it be and why?

If I could co-author with anyone, it would be Zane. She is one of the best authors that write Urban Erotica. My dream is to write poetry so that we can incorporate a character that writes poetry. I think that would be awesome.
