Interview With Winn Publications

Winn Publicaitons: How did your journey as an author begin?

My journey as an author began by reading a romance novel. There was an ad in the back asking you to submit a story if you were interested in becoming published. I submitted and they offered me a writing contract for 7 books. It took off from there!

Winn Publications: Was it something you always wanted to pursue?

I had written songs and poems ever since I was a little girl in middle school. I never dreamed that I would be writing novels and self-help books though.

Winn Publications: Who or what motivated you to write?

The stories I read, or better yet the stories I didn’t read. It seemed as if Black Women were always in these certain boxes when I read fiction and I wanted to write stories that burst us out of those boxes. I wanted to write about how we were strong, but not at the determinant of not being able to keep a man; that we weren’t the victim, but the victor; and that we always got the happily ever after without the drama.

Winn Publications: Have you published your writings into a book? If so, where can we find it/them?

Yes, I have and you can find my books on Amazon, Google Play, iBooks, Barnes & Noble, and everywhere pretty much books are sold.

Winn Publications: How was the publishing process?

It was easy when I was with my publisher.

Winn Publications: Are you self-published?

I am and I love it. I would recommend it for any author who has the time and money to invest in their work.

Winn Publications: Since becoming a published author, what challenges have you faced if any?

Marketing, marketing, marketing. Gotta keep my name out there.

Winn Publications: Have you written anything outside of fiction/nonfiction?

Yes, I write songs as well.

Winn Publications: Do you have a tip that you can offer your peers (poets and writers worldwide)?

Don’t ever give up on yourself or dreams. You are worth the investment in yourself and your craft.

Winn Publications: Are you currently working on any new projects? If so, when can we expect them to be released?

I am currently working on a few projects:

  • May Release: Inches from Success: Practical Advice to help you Crawl past Failure and Navigate your Individual Journey to Success!
  • June Release: Love After Hours: 3 Steamy Tales of How Business Networking Can Turn Into love!

Winn Publications: What’s your favorite quote and who’s it by?
